Nikon Shallow Depth-of-Field Studio Portraits Demonstration

Thursday 20th March, 6.00 - 8.30pm

Learn how to elevate your portrait photography with a combination of shallow depth-of-field and precise studio lighting control.

Despite advancements in LED studio lighting, many photographers still prefer flash lighting for studio photography. Flash allows for finely detailed, low-ISO portraits and precise control of movement through faster shutter speeds or shorter flash durations. It also provides ample depth of field, with high-powered units easily supporting apertures up to f/22 or beyond. However, how can photographers achieve the benefits of shallow depth-of-field (shooting at apertures of f/2.8 or lower) while maintaining crisp, high-quality images?

Join Nikon, Profoto, and Diamonds Camera, to learn how to create stunning, dreamy studio portraits using flash. Explore techniques to balance flash power, high-speed sync, and freeze mode while working with lenses such as Nikon’s 85mm f/1.2, the 135mm Plana, and the 50mm f/1.2 on the Nikon Z8, paired with Profoto lighting.
