Shaun Li - Capture the Present
At Capture the Present, we create captivating content to showcase who you are, what you do and why it matters .We work closely with businesses, organisations and individuals to develop visual content true to your brand that effectively engages your audience and highlights your story.
Shaun has been a lab scientist, a dietitian, and a public health officer who spent 8 years delivering health messages to the public, and in that time learning about social marketing and how to truly engage audiences with messages.
Throughout this journey Shaun discovered photography, and realised that content creation was the field which truly sets my soul alight. This led to the establishment of Capture the Present as it is today. He love collaborating with passionate individuals and organisations to create content that truly represents their vision and highlights to the world the value they have to offer.
When Shaun is not creating images, you’ll find him trying to eat and cook everything under the sun, singing in his car, meditating on hills, diving deep into the world of a range of sports including tennis, mixed martial arts and animal movement workouts, buried deep into books and graphic novels and doing as much random activities as possible to make the most of each moment in this life.
Q&A
What drives you to create the work you do?
A freelance career allows me the freedom of testing any idea I have without any inhibitions. It’s the unrestrained creativity that makes everything worth it. In the simplest terms, my desire is to create images that move people and elicit emotions. I’ve always found cinema, music, images and art have this incredible power to bring up emotions and instil ideas in me, and I want to be able to do that for others.
What are your hobbies outside of your freelance work?
What are you willing to share about who you are?
- Food & cooking
- Pretty much most types of exercise – gym, swimming, yoga, hiking, boxing, animal movement workouts, bouldering, soccer, tennis
- Meditation & breathwork
- Reading/watching movies/tv shows
- Watching chilli eating challenges on youtube
What do you like most about working from Cog?
I’ve always been big on community and love collaborating with like minded individuals. Also don’t like working from home! Where to start?! – The people, the location, the community, our ethos and focus on supporting the creative community, even the way the late afternoon light streams through the Cog kitchen is remarkable.
Difficult question – it’s like asking me to choose one ice cream flavour for the rest of my life. But when it comes to proudest – it’s probably my second exhibition called ‘Stronger Together’ which was a massive organisational effort.
