The studio is available for hire for suitable shoots and events.

Suitable shoots are …

  • Minimal crew (less than 5)
  • Tidy shoots (no liquid or ink-based props that can stain the floor)
  • Minimal props (due to access and getting gear in to the studio in wet weather)
  • Absolutely NO fire or spark-based shoots

Suitable events are …

  • Expected attendees less than 20
  • Self-catered (catering access may be tricky in wet weather so please get in touch to discuss your plans before making a booking)
  • Activities that will not impact negatively on the tidiness of the space *
  • Very noisy activities are not permitted due to the possible impact on neighbours
  • Please note the parking and access PDF (click here to access) issues, and ensure that participants would be happy to park on the street and walk across the grass and down the driveway to access the venue

* Paint or staining materials will need you to supply suitable drop sheets that are safely secured to avoid tripping or slipping

Watermark Crossing is in Macclesfield, about 45mins from Adelaidevia the South EasternFreeway. Please check the traffic conditions ahead of time in case there is an incident on the freeway that may require an alternative route, or extra travel time. There are no unsealed roads to worry about. The only windy part of the drive is between Mount Barker and Macclesfield, but it’s a pleasant drive with very manageable navigation. We recommend taking the Stamps Rd turnoff from Flaxley Rd for a lovely drive into Macclesfield.

Parking is NOT available at the studioitself, but there is ample parking along the road or in the side driveway at 74 Venables St (the residence) which is just a 1 minute walk across the waterway via a boardwalk and bridge. Please take extreme care in wet weather as the boardwalkmay be slippery. If you are parking on the road (see the parking map *here*) you can walk across the lawn and down the studio driveway in dry weather (also just a 1 minute walk). In wet weather please walk down the residential driveway and along the top boardwalk.

Macclesfield is a wonderful historic town at the southern edge of the Adelaide Hills.

Accommodation

There are plenty of accommodation and options –the closest being next door at Riddledown Cottage or any of the local B&B’s. Our local winery, Longview Winery, has some incredible accommodation options, as well as spa and treatment facilities if you want to make an experience of your visit. Please refer to the local accommodation page for a list of available places to stay –we are sure you will find a wonderful option to suit your budget.

Meals

Macclesfield is lucky to have not one, but two local pubs, just a 4-minute walk from the venue. The Three Brothers Arms, originally named The Goats Head Inn, is the oldest pub in the Adelaide Hills, established in 1841, and a well-know venue for live music as well as great food. The Macclesfield Hotel has recently been renovated and is a destination in itself, famous for its schnitzel and very generous portions (bookings may be necessary depending on the day and season). The Macclesfield General Store (also walking distance) has excellent food and is well stocked with supplies. Some of our workshops will have organised meals at one of the pubs (optional) if you are staying over, so please check the workshop info to see if this is available. This is a wonderful way to relax after a workshop and to get to know other participants and share ideas and experiences.

The studio itself is on ground level (no stairs) and is wheelchair accessible via the double front doors –however the driveway is only accessible for part of the year (Summer and dry times of the year). Wet weather makes the grass between the main road and the studio driveway very boggy and cars are not allowed to traverse the grass in wet weather. Wet weather access is via a boardwalk and bridge, and these are NOT wheelchair accessible. Please note that the toilet facilities are via a standard single door, but there is plenty of room in the bathroom for manoeuvrability.
